Sir:
I am
writing this letter to express my deep concern over the problem of negative
effects of advertisements on children. Companies spend millions of dollars on
advertisements only because they are the most effective tool to promote sales
and earn huge profits.
The
products and services shown in the advertisements are presented in such an
appealing way that the people watching them feel tempted to buy them. The
target of these advertisements are children and adolescents. They are too young
to think logically the pros and cons of the products advertised. These
advertisements are made to attract them.
Most of the
advertisements related to food items such as chocolate, biscuits, burgers,
chips, soft-drinks in truth are harmful for children’s health. They are lured
by these advertisements and ask their parents to buy them and consume them. Prolonged
consumption of these products harms their health.
Through the
columns of your esteemed daily I appeal to the parents and concerned
authorities to look into these harms. I appeal to the authorities, especially
the Food Regulatory Department to have the claims made in the advertisements
about the products verified. Strict action must be taken against those
companies whose products are found to be misleading.
Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Piyush

Subject: Water logging on our
roads during monsoon
Sir:
I am writing this letter to bring
to the notice of Municipal Corporation Delhi the issue of poor drainage in our
area, which causes much inconvenience to the residents. The problems of the residents become
exceedingly serious. This rainy season our city had copious rainfall. The
entire city was flooded. Our colony was no exception. You will be shocked to
know even after almost a month of the rainfall, the rainwater has not been
drained. The simple reason behind this flooding of the city roads is poor
drainage system. The high areas are clear and clean. The rain water has been
drained from there. The problem is with the low areas, where the drainage
system has been faulty. The PWD department’s inefficiency has been exposed.
The stagnated water has been
causing serious health issues. Malaria, dengue, chikanguniya, apart from stink
and travelling problems have made the life of Shastri Nagar residents literal
hell. The state government’s apathy to the ongoing problems is outrageously
shocking. Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I appeal to the concerned
central government ministry to look into the matter and expedite the corrective
and preventive measures for the affected residents. I am hopeful you will give
suitable place to my letter in your esteemed daily.
Yours truly,
Somya
