Subject: Making cities smoke-free.
Sir:
I am writing this letter to you to express my deep concern over the problem of air pollution in our city, which is affecting the environment drastically. The amount of air pollution has increased so much that at times it becomes difficult to breathe for people.
Increasing number of vehicles, poor implementation of environmental laws have further deteriorated the state of affairs. Besides, people’s indifferent attitude to the environment. Their general living style is such as pollutes the environment.
The people and the Government must join hands to make cities smoke free. All industries must have sophisticated smoke treatment plants; there should be only electric vehicles. There should not be any burning of garbage. All the vacant places should be covered with trees. People must also cooperate with the Government and be responsible in keeping their surroundings and city clean. I appeal to the people to be responsible. I also appeal to the concerned authorities to look into the matter. Kindly give my views some space in your esteemed daily.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
Shyam
