Subject: Hazards caused by using mobile phones and playing video games

Dear Sir:

I am writing to your good self to express my views and concern over the hazards caused by using mobile phones and playing video games I am just shocked at statics published by Parents Television Council, an organization that promotes and advocates responsible entertainment. According to the statistics published by this organization the average eight year old child spends eight hours a day on media. A child spends eight hours a day on media. A teenager typically spends more than 11 hours of media a day. Similarly, more and more children are using internet to play video games and surf net.

Excessive TV watching and playing video games and using internet affect their, physical, mental, emotional, and social health. Weak eyesight, obesity, aggression, stress, weak academics, poor concentration in studies, etc. are the common fallouts of too much TV watching and video games.

Through the medium of your newspaper I appeal to parents, teachers and the concerned authorities to look into the matter and make and implement strategies to wean children off TV watching, internet and video games. I hope you will give enough space to my views in your esteemed newspaper.

Yours truly,

Ram Sharma
