Dear Sir
I wish to draw attention to the problem of traffic jams around educational institutions during the morning and afternoon hours. With a large number of vehicles present in the area around that time, it leads to overcrowding and chaos, adding to both pollution and stress. The local authorities and parents can play an extremely important role here.
To begin with, policemen could be deployed to ensure the smooth movement of traffic. In fact, extra traffic marshalls can also be appointed to handle the task. Additionally the school zones could be made ‘one-way’ areas during the peak hours. Traffic could be diverted so that people are not stuck in the jam unnecessarily.
Additionally, parents should be sensitised to the issue and asked to observe the general traffic rules. Vehicles need to follow strict lane driving and drop children off only at the designated spots. Also, manning the zebra crossings will ensure that the traffic is not held up and children can cross the road safely.
With cooperation from all quarters, the issue can be dealt with effectively, making the area around institutions chaos free and safer for everyone.
