No day goes by without hearing robbery and burglary in our country. Who is responsible for this social menace?
Well, explosion in population and unemployment make people deprived of basic amenities. Frustration and disappointment lead to robbery. The chasm between rich and poor is widening especially in urban areas. Adequate steps are not taken to eradicate poverty and unemployment. People in the unorganized sector are not getting enough wage. So they take unfair methods to fulfill their requirements.
Government, industries and institutions should come forward to utilise manpower by paying satisfactorily to the workers. Law must be made to ensure fixed minimum wage to the workers. Insurance coverage and other benefits must be provided.
Law enforcement agencies must discharge their functions sincerely and seriously. Patrolling should not be for name sake. CCTV cameras and theft alarms should be installed in all strategic places. Above all employment opportunities must be created in the country. If so, to large extent robbery can be averted.
