Subject: The nuisance of excessive use of loudspeakers during festivals.
Respected Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily newspaper, I would like to express my displeasure on the excessive use of loudspeakers (PA Systems) during festivals.
Sir, I am not against the celebration of festivals. In fact festivals are a time of joy everyone look forward to each year. Festivals are a part of our personal, religious, and social life.
The problem is not celebration of festivals, but the manner in which it is celebrated. A major issue is the use of loudspeakers during festival seasons. Most of the important festivals are celebrated with loudspeakers at high volume. This is a public disturbance and another form of noice pollution. Loudspeakers are played not only during the day but throughout the whole night. This disturbs the sleep of the public. It also interfere with the students studying for exams or doing their homeworks. We must also consider the sick people who needed quiet time and sleep properly.
Therefore, I earnestly request the authorities to to consider banning the use of loudspeakers. In case this is not possible, a law must be there specifying a time limit beyond which it will be considered illegal.
