Subject: Poaching and its Grave Repercussions
Dear Sir:
I write to your good self to express my deep concern over the
problem of poaching and its repercussions on our wild life. It appears man is
the most dangerous animal that has ever lived on planet. The innocent animals
in the forests have been dragged to the verge of extinction. Any animal that
comes within the range of his greedy perception, is gone forever. The fur
animals such as foxes, minks, rabbits, wolves, cats, beavers, tigers, leopards,
and many more, man hunts all of them for trading their furs in return for
money! He forgets that these animals are an integral part of the ecological
system.
According to Wildlife Protection Society of India 21 elephants,
24 rhinos, 50 tigers, 154 leopards were killed for poaching in 2016. The number
of wild animals’ death was higher if other causes were also included. This
number is quite alarming keeping in view the meager number of these endangered
species left in our country.
Foolish poachers don’t know the environmental and ecological
ramifications of killing these innocent animals. Reduction of a species might
lead to irreparable damage to the ecological system of an area. For example, if
elephant population were reduced to nothing, it might lead to no distribution
of plant seeds that might further affect vegetation of the area. Similarly a
drop in the population of a predator animal might lead to increased number of herbivores
that can adversely affect the vegetation of the area. Through the columns of
your esteemed daily, I appeal to the Environment Ministry and other concerned
departments to put an immediate stop to poaching.
There must be total ban on poaching of animals for furs,
skins and accessories made of animal skins and bones! The concerned Government
ministry in collaboration with Animal Rights Activists must also work
proactively to save animals, our partners in existence! if needed, endangered
animals protection task forces must be formed. Commandos having all the
high-tech-equipment and weapons should be deployed in reserves and sanctuaries.
I am hopeful you will give space to my views in your reputed
paper for the noble cause. Thanking you.
Yours truly,
