Sir,
Kindly permit me to express my views on the impact of the television programmes on the life of the people.
Television is both, a blessing as well as a curse. It is blessing in the sense that it provides both educations as well as entertainment. It brings you the latest news of all the happenings in the farthest corners of the world in no time. It also presents before you the views of different shades of people on the burning issues of the day. It also provides ready entertainment at all hours of the day. It provides an excellent company to all, the young as well as the old.
In spite of all the advantages of the television, it continues to be termed as an idiot box. A majority of the programmes being telecast are nothing but a vulgar display of sex, fashions, film and advertisements. Eye-catching advertisement misguides the people into reckless and rash spending. Similarly, sex movies and pornographic programmes spoil the morals of the young and impressionable minds of boys and girls and lead them astray. Television viewers keep riveted to their sets and waste a lot of their useful time. Students tend to ignore their studies while housewives avoid their domestic duties. Television, in fact throws the entire life out of gear.
Thus T.V. is mixed blessing which should be used with intelligence, discrimination and care.
Yours faithfully,
XYZ.
