Sub: People's role in making media more accountable.
Sir
I write to you to express my concern over the problem of misuse of media by certain powerful people and organizations for their own vested interests. This is highly unethical and undemocratic. Media is the voice of the people against the injustice of the elected representatives of the people in case they become authoritarian, self-righteous, and besotted with power. Since media are also controlled by fallible men, it can also be used wrongly by a nexus of like-minded individuals in power. Some instances of the misuses of media have been reported. For instance certain news channel target certain ministers belonging to certain political parties. This media war is quite glaringly noticeable.
It has been observed that media are going off track. Media have become engrossed in making huge profits by airing commercials of products of certain companies. Money making is the top priority for media. Media have ceased being the voice of the people. However, in a democratic, people are the real rulers and policymakers. They can put any wrong right. So if the people find media going astray, the media regulatory authority can be taken help of. Online complaint can really check the media misuse. So people must be aware of their collective power. Through the columns of your esteemed the people to use their discretionary power to make media more accountable.
