Subject:Increased use of plastic cups
Sir,
Through the columns of ur esteemed newspaper I would like to bring the attention of the readers regarding the ever increasing use of plastic and styrofoam cups.....Last day there was a marriage functuion in our colony....all those plastic cups which were used for the function were dumped into the nearby pond....The area is completely dirty now...Moreover this is a great threat to our nature and the environment..These do not decompose at all and as a result it consumes a lot of spacePlastic has a large impact on the environment. It is possible to recycle plastic, depending on your city's recycling system, but many people do not. Plastic is not biodegradable, which means it is not possible for the earth to naturally absorb this material back into the soil. Rather, the light breaks down the plastic into small pieces that contaminate the soil. It is expensive to manage and clean the toxicity that plastic creates. Recycling programs aim to get you to reduce the amount of items you use, reuse your containers and recycle what you can no longer use. Plastic can also adversely affect your health...so I hope that people will start using paper cups ...and if possible, better than all these, steel cups for such big ceremonies such that we contribute something to our nature from our part .......
Yours faithfully,
