Sub: Forcible Collection of Subscription

Sir,

Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to ventilate my deep concern about the problem of forcible collection of subscription in recent times in our area causing a great difficulty to the residents.

At present, the subscription collection is a nuisance to all. The organisers of various puja committees pressurise the people for subscription. Sometimes the pressure comes from political leaders. The collectors never care for the option of the subscribers. They behave people roughly. They often do not restrain themselves from threatening people openly. The common people are in helpless condition. They do not venture to voice any protest against it. The people are forced to give subscription. Sometimes political leaders claim a huge amount of subscription from the traders and shop owners. They become scared and pay subscription out of fear.

So I earnestly request you to take your mighty pen to draw the attention of the concerned authorities and administration to take proper steps to curb out the problem as soon as possible.

TheEditor,                                                                                                                                                                   The Telegraph,                                                                                                                                            Kolkata-700001.

Sub: - Rising price of essential commodities.

Sir,

I crave the hospitality of your esteemed journal to publish therein a few lines about the high price of essential commodities causing great hardship to the people.

The ever increasing price of the bare necessities of life is now a headache to most of the people. In recent times the price of all essential goods such as potatoes, sugar, coal, mustard oil, kerosene, salt, dal, spices etc. have gone up so high that it is beyond the capacity of the poor and middle class people to purchase them. The price of rice, milk, fish, meat and almost all vegetables, clothes, garments, medicines are also going up day by day. Thus, it has now become almost impossible to make both ends meet. The Govt. should take immediate action against the dishonest hoarders and profiteers and make better arrangements for the supply of essential commodities at cheap price.

I, therefore, request you to bring the matter to the notice of the Govt., both in the center and in the state, to redress the grievances of the people.
