Respected Sir,

Undoubtedly, railway tends to be one of the most effective means of transportation in our country. Millions of citizens prefer to travel by railway daily. The issue that I want to discuss today is quite apt to highlight. As you know that, people from different backgrounds and all age groups travel to reach their destination by train service; therefore, a huge quantity of food is served and consumed on the trains. Sir, I had an opportunity to travel between two districts by railway, lately. Although it did not come out to be something to be cherished about yet the saddest part of the story began with my experience of having lunch during that journey.

Sir, the quality of the served food was below average and the principles of health hygiene were not followed anywhere at all. The food was stale and it stank as well. I complained to the vendor but he did not lend a keen ear to my complaint. I am sure that it is a routine practice and the health of the people of the country is being, adversely, affected by such below standard services. I hope you understand the seriousness of the matter and you will raise the issue in your newspaper at the earliest.

I shall be grateful to you in this regard

Yours Truly

Dear Editor, Kindly let me draw the attention of all concerned authorities and the Railway ministry through the columns of your esteemed newspaper regarding the bad quality of food that is served to passengers in many trains by catering services.

Most caterers only focus on making money rather than on the quality of food being served.

They have utter disregard for good quality as most of the kitchens are dirty and do not maintain proper hygiene.

In many cases, people have found stale and dirty food while travelling.

There have also been a few instances when cockroaches and other insects have been found floating in the food.

Passengers who pay for food do not get good service and in many cases, people fall ill.

It causes a lot of inconvenience to the passengers.

Keeping these points in view, I hope that the concerned people and the Railway authorities will initiate the needful steps to ensure that there is proper checking by food inspectors and only reputed people and companies are deputed for the job.

Yours truly,

Shyam Shekhar.
