Sir,

Through the column of your much esteemed daily I intend to air the untold miseries of thousands of people.

About five thousand people live in our village Mahestala. A kucea road links the village with Simultala Bus stand on NH-34. This road is the only way to come out of this village. The village boys and girls have to walk gour kilometers along this road to attend their school. But the problem is that many hawkers gathered on the road to sell their products and it makes the road fully jammed, no car can go through it then. Moreover illegal parking of bikes and cycles on the both sides of the road also helps it. The students are then to stop going to schools. But unfortunately repeated requests to the concerning Panchayat Samiti and block Development Office have come to nothing. Our only demand is to get the road clean usefull all.

Mahestala Yours truly,

Dist. : Hooghly

Subject: Problems caused by hawkers and bikes on both sides of the road

Dear Sir:

I write to your good self to express my concern over the problems of excessive traffic congestion faced by commuters owing to massive encroachment by hawkers and illegal parking of vehicles on pavements. The roads of the city have become so crowded with vehicles that long traffic jams are everyday affair now. There is no space even for pedestrians in the market places. All footpaths have been illegally occupied by vendors.

Apart from that, this encroachment causes traffic jams also. These long traffic jams cause so much of loss to the nation. Millions of working hours are wasted every day because of these traffic jams. Fuel worth millions of rupees gets wasted by vehicles stuck up in these jams. People’s health is also under attack from the pollution caused by these vehicles. The irritation caused by these jams also leads to many aggressive confrontations among the commuters. Students also incur heavy loss of studies as these jams don’t let them reach to their schools and colleges in time.

Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to the state and central governments to look into the matter and do the needful. Kindly give my views enough space in your esteemed daily. Thanking you.

Yours truly,

Amita
