Subject: Two pen and paper tests versus round the year evaluation

Sir:

I am writing to your esteemed self to express my views on ‘Two pen and paper tests versus round the year evaluation’. Well, the Government has reintroduced the old evaluation system in which students’ academic performance is evaluated twice a year through pen-paper tests. Earlier the previous Government had introduced CCE in which evaluation was done throughout the year through FAs (Formative Assessments) and SAs (Summative Assessments). Though the CCE was a better system of evaluation, but it was not used meticulously. Incompetent teachers undermined the objectives of learning by doing corrupt practices such as giving fake marks for FA activities. Students become complacent!

So the Government after having received feedback from teachers, parents, and educationists, reintroduced two pen paper tests system. This system has again put the pressure and responsibility of learning back on students’ shoulders. They can’t afford to be complacent of receiving undue marks or grades from their teachers in the name of FAs. They will have to actually study hard to score grades. This will improve the quality of education in the nation. I appeal to you to give my views enough space in your esteemed daily so that people might know the advantages of the two pen paper tests system.
