Subject Public Protests
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I wish to draw the attention of your readers to the banners, which
urges the public to voice their protest over matters in a rowdy procession. While such means may look attractive
in a comic serial, these are unbecoming for responsible citizens.
In my opinion, the more effective method of voicing one's protest is through face to face discussions between
the authorities and a representative body of citizens or the .concerned party. Another way is to write to the press
and make one's views heard in the proper quarters. Even a press conference can be called apprising newsmen of
the situation. As a last measure, one can turn to the courts for redressal of grievances.
It is, however, downright hooliganism to try and get one's way by taking to the streets. Such methods disrupt
civic life and enable unsocial elements to gain control and jeopardise safety and security. Please publish these
views in your daily and oblige.
Yours sincerely
