Dear Sir:

I wish to bring to your kind notice the problems caused by hawkers. The hawkers occupy pavements that cause traffic congestion. The problem is so serious that every day almost all the roads become impassable owing to the long traffic jams. Owing to the lack of strict action, the problem persists.

Well these street hawkers have the right to sell their goods; but the other people also have the right to use the roads. These jams caused by street hawkers are causing a huge loss to the national resources. In the markets and busy market places, there is no footpath available for the pedestrians. As a result the roads on the both sides have become narrower. This leads to traffic congestion. Not only time is wasted, fuel worth millions of rupees also gets wasted.

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I appeal to concerned authorities to allot some specific areas to these hawkers where they can sell their goods. A heavy fine should be levied against the defaulters. I am sure this allotment of fixed place to these hawkers will solve the problem. I on behalf of the citizens of Ludhiana appeal to the authorities to look into the matter and relieve the citizens of the menace of jams caused by street hawkers.

Thanking you,

Yours truly,

Kushagra Saxena
