Sub - The importance of saving water

Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to express my views and opinions on the importance of saving water.
Water is necessary for the sustenance of human life. While the supply seems abundant, water is not a limitless resource, particularly the fresh potable water most necessary to human survival. Without conservation efforts, this vital supply of water may be exhausted. Conservation carries economic benefits as well, as energy and equipment are also conserved as a direct result of water preservation efforts.

Yours Sincerely
PQR

Explanation:

We’ve been getting rain these past few days, but it has little effect on the drought. This drought is very serious. According to Governor Brown, “We can’t make it rain, but we can be prepared for the terrible consequences that California’s drought now threatens, including dramatically less water for our farms and communities and increased fire in both urban and rural areas.". This could be California’s biggest drought and we should all be thinking about the problems it’s causing and what we can do to help.

The drought has major effects in California and in Napa. The effects of the drought are obvious when you look around. Many of the reservoirs are drying up, and fires have burned extensive areas. Lakes have lowered more than 50 percent. Agriculture has has a slow and less numerous production due to the drought, according to CNN. CNN says that this is the worst drought in more than 200 years. Although a strong wet system is expected, it is uncertain when it will happen, but we hope it will be soon. Helping use less water is very important in times of drought. We need to also make sure to save water when and where we can.

We need to save water to make sure that we have enough water for our future generations. Tosha Comendant is a conservation scientist who advises the WICC (The Watershed Information Center and Conservancy) Board in Napa. She says that if we don’t stop wasting water, our environment now and in the future will be in big trouble. We should make sure our watersheds are protected so that they will still provide a source of water for our future generations. We need to save water by taking shorter showers, changing our lawns to drought resistant plants, and turning the water off when we are brushing our teeth. Tosha Comendant says that 50 percent of household water waste comes from landscaping, so this is definitely something we can improve on. If we do these simple steps, our future generations will be thankful.

We need to save water because if we don't have enough water our future generations will not survive. Like Governor Brown said, a lack of water will mean a lack of food. "During times of drought, vegetation is visibly dry," the U.S. Geological Survey reports. The lack of food that might happen in the future due to a lack of water is fearful to think about. Those are the main problems from the drought if it continues going on like this.

The California drought is a big problem and it should make us all realize that saving water is critical at this time. If the drought continues at this rate and we don’t change our ways when it comes to water waste, then the future could be a lot different than today’s world. We should try to save water so that everything doesn’t dry up. This would be bad for our future because there would be no drinkable water and without water we cannot live. The effects of the drought are quite visible and we need to make sure we are conserving water when we can.
