Sir,

Through the column of your estimate daily, I would like to express the difficulties of deforestation.

Deforestation is a permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses. Deforestation is considered to be one of the one of the contributing factors of global climate change. Deforestation has may negative effects on the environment. Seventy percent of the world's plants and animal live in forests and are loosing their habits to deforestation. Tree roots anchor the soil. Without trees, the soil is free to wash or blow away, which can lead to vegetation growth problems.

About half of the world's tropical forests has been cleared (FAO) Forests currently cover about 30 percent of the world's land mass. The cutting that does occur should be balanced by the planting of enough young trees to replace the older ones felled in any given forests. The number of new tree plantations is growing each year, but their total still equal a tiny fraction of the earth's forested land.

I request you to highlight this message through newspaper. I also kindly request you to debute your reporter to the coverage of this issue in detail and help in tlacking this issue.

Sub: indiscriminate felling of trees.

sir,

Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to ventilate my concern about the thoughtless and indiscriminate felling of trees.

We have a state of outstanding natural resources. The great expanse of forest with their fauna and flora is a veritable source of economic strength in our country. A large number of rural people is mainly dependent on forests for their livelihood. But the indiscriminate felling of trees by some unscrupulous persons in this area has caused an alarming situation these days. It is a great pity that the forest area is gradually being dwindled. Random deforestation is mainly responsible for that. Rapid industrialization, unplanned housing are the major causes of the decline of forest. It is a great threat to the environment of our area. All this affects our lives badly and adversely. The level of pollution is on peak level.

Natural calamities are taking place very now and then. Though we know that tree are our life-giver and life-saver, we thoughtlessly cut down trees. This thoughtless felling of trees causes havoc to the eco-balance and weakens our economy. But unfortunately we do not pay heed to such gravest threat. The common people are not made aware of the gravity of the problem. The more the growth of population increases, the more felling down of trees increases. We deprive ourselves of green touch due to urbanisation, excessive population growth and for sweeft development. Due to deforestation our eearth regalarly faces droughts, floods, cyclonic storm, soil and water erosion, air pollution, global warming.

But our latest hope is that the government, the NGOs and commoners we will work together to check deforestation and create mass awareness in this respect.

Place: Yours faithfully,
