Answers
Sir: I write this letter to express my anguish and annoyance over the problem of loud speakers during the examination days. ... During the day the loud noise from speakers does not disturb and distract as much as it does at night. Especially at the weekends the nose from the loudspeakers is just unbearable.Aug 4,

Subject: The insensitive use of loudspeakers during festivals.
Sir/Madam,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily national newspaper, I would like to highlight the nuisance caused by the irresponsible use of loudspeakers during festivals.
Festivals are a part of our religious, and social life. The problem is not a celebration of festivals, but how they are celebrated. Most of the popular festivals in India are celebrated using loudspeakers to play music at high volume throughout the day and all night long.
This practice by religious organizations is a public disturbance and a major cause of noise pollution. Noise pollution is known to cause headaches, anxiety, hearing loss, irritation, and other health problems. We must also sympathize with the sick and elderly people as well as children and infants who need to rest and sleep properly.
The irresponsible use of loudspeakers interferes with the students who are studying for school and college exams, competitive exams for jobs, or doing their homework. The use of loudspeakers should be banned in residential areas and defaulters severely penalized.
Yours sincerely
