The Editor,

The Daily Herald,

ABC Town.

Subject: Misuse of public properties.

Sir,

Through your esteemed daily newspaper, I wish to highlight and create awareness on the misuse of public places and properties.

One of the most ugly sights in our town are the paper bills, posters, advertisements and scribblings on the walls of public places. The walls of public buildings and fencings are defaced by so many of them, both old and new. There are old election posters and advertisements of events which are over a very long time ago but nobody cared to remove them. Our town would look more tidy and beautiful if these paper posters and bills are cleaned and the walls painted.

I believe we need to ban sticking of posters, bills and scribblings every where. Authorities like the Municipal Corporation can designate certain places to stick posters and bills which are of public interest. A certain penalty must be imposed on anyone who misuse public properties by sticking posters or bills in unauthorised places.

Individuals and organisations must have awareness on the importance of cleanliness. We are taught about hygiene and cleanliness very early in our school life. But it is sad that our education is never applied practically. I look forward to a positive response from the concerned authorities as well as from the general public.

Yours sincerely,

ROSHAN
