Subject: Rising Violence Among Youngsters
Dear Sir:
I write this letter to your good self to express my deep
concern over the problem of rising violence among youngsters. The frequent
incidents of violence that one often sees happening either on road, or on play
grounds, or anywhere else, disturb the peace of one's mind. The teenagers these
days resort to violent means so often. Even for the simplest of problems and
challenges, they use violence.
The most worrisome aspect is they don't try to settle their conflicts and
issues peacefully. Even at home they exhibit aggression on an issue with their
siblings or parents. They vent out their hurt, differences, points of view
through shouts or by kicking. The elders, especially the parents are quite
concerned about the implications of their aggression. Nor are they ready to
listen to the advice of the elders, brushing it aside as lectures or mere
preaching.
The experts on adolescence psychology ascribe their violence and aggression to the influence of so many factors. Internet, TV, video games, and lack of counselling are the most prominent causes leading to their violence. Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to the concerned authorities to look into the matter and do something promptly to check this growing violence among the youngsters. The schools should start anger management courses at school, besides providing them with a healthy environment that encourages tolerance and understanding. I am sure you will help me in this noble cause. Thanking you.
Yours truly,
B. K. Malhotra
