subject: focusing on adolescence.
Res/Sir,
I'm read your newspaper from 10 years. you really give very powerful thoughts about to improve our youth..
Now days, A large body of medical and other research thoroughly informs us of the many harmful health and school effects of sleep deprivation involving our teen-aged middle and high school students. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the National Association of School Psychologists and other organizations have issued position reports on these serious harmful effects and urging our educational decision-makers to change the school starting times for these adolescents so they can receive their needed 8 ½ to 9 ½ hours sleep time before each school day. Medical research shows that no matter what time our adolescents go to bed, they don’t go to sleep until around 11 p.m.
Research shows these sleep deprived teen-agers are pathologically sleepy and tired in classroom. This lack of adequate sleep causes health problems such as being overweight, depression, suicide, and automobile accidents. In school, it causes inappropriate and disruptive behaviors and less academic achievement. Changing the school start time for these students for the 2015/2016 school year is a no-cost, sensible solution. School districts that have made these school start time changes found they did not interfere with these adolescent student’s extra-curricula activities or part-time jobs.
I will thankful to you if you more and more focus on adolescence....
yours faithfully,
Raman..
hope it helps
