Subject: Pollution hazards

Sir,

I am a regular reader of your national daily and wish to use its columns to express my views on the hazards of pollution.

Modern times have seen great technological advancement. Industrialisation has led to factory fumes and waste being thrown into the atmosphere and water sources. Use of CFCs has led to depletion of ozone layer. Increase in number of vehicles has caused increased emission of pollutants. Overpopulation has put extreme pressure on the environment through pollution which

has led to health hazards. Respiratory complaints are common, allergies too are common place. Some pollutants have been found to be carcinogenic. Growth of vegetation suffers in a polluted environment, rainfall is less, surrondings are unclean and unhygienic.

I hope that the public and concerned authorities will utilise this awareness towards the hazards of pollution to take adequate steps to check the damage.

Yours sincerely,

ABC
