My dear Brother,
I have been informed by the father that you have done well in the Half-Yearly Examination. The only subject you have fared badly in English. To learn English properly you must read English Grammer, English storybooks, newspapers, magazines, etc. At the same time, you must consult 'Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English' edited by A. S. Hornby. You will find this dictionary lying on the shelf of your book-case. This is a gem dictionary. It has a number of functions. It not only helps the learner know the meaning of words but also their appropriate applications and uses through sentences. This is the most important aspect of the dictionary. There are also attractive illustrations almost on every page of it. The phonetic sign against every word will enable the learner to pronounce the word correctly. Lastly, the Appendix at the end of the dictionary will provide the learner with a lot of information about many unknown things and subjects. You should, therefore, start consulting this wonderful dictionary without further delay. More, about this when I go home. I am quite well. Hoping this finds you all in the best of health and spirits, and with love.
Your affectionately,
ELDER BROTHER
