Letter to my cousin and suggesting him/her to get rid of crackers during this Deepawali:

12 November 2019

Dear Jithesh.

Hope this letter reaches you in good health. How are Pravesh Maama, Shagun Maami, and Aparna Didi? Diwali, the festival of joy and merrymaking is around the corner and it’s time to start preparing for the revelry. I am sure you too must be as excited as I am. Have you bought new clothes? Over here we all have finished shopping for dresses. However, this time instead of spending thousands and thousands of rupees in chocolates and sweets and distributing them to relatives and friends, for a change we decided to prepare sweets and savouries at home and involve all family members in making these delectable treats. When the whole family comes together this way, there is so much attachment and closeness that the festive spirits simply gets enhanced.

Most important of all we have decided to not burst crackers and go green, I know Diwali is incomplete without lights, crackers and sweets. The adrenalin rush and the excitement while bursting crackers perhaps had no comparison. From elderly to kids, we all had indulged in this every Diwali. However, for years we never thought about pollution stemming from bursting crackers. The toxics that is filled the air in the form of carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide.

Furthermore, the noise from the crackers harms human ears as well as scares birds and animals. Only for a few hours of excitement we create so much mayhem which is beyond repair and causes so much harm to all living beings. Therefore, we decided a sensible approach would be to avoid crackers. I would request you and all at your home to go green and avoid bursting crackers. If each one of us make such a contribution, we can reduce the overall pollution that is badly affecting our nation in the last so many years. Let’s celebrate Diwali by spreading happiness and not pollution. I am sure you too would agree with me.

Wishing you and all at home a ‘Very Happy, Safe and Pollution Free Diwali!’. Convey my regards to Maama, Maami, and Aparna Didi.

Bye for now

Love and Regards

Bhavesh
