My dear Rakesh,

How are you and how's the family? I hope you are preparing well for the forthcoming board examination!
Let me briefly narrate to you my experience of the post demonetisation scenario. After the Prime Minister announced the decision on 8th November evening, my family members managed to exchange the old currency notes in 3-4 days, as we did not have much cash in denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes. But, it was quite interesting with what we observed about some people in our neighbourhood; they appeared to have a lot of cash stashed up and ran from pillar to post to exchange them. Some of them had tension writ large on their faces.Most people of the locality were quite unperturbed with the demonetisation issue and went about doing the needful as a matter of routine.
I honestly feel it was a good move on the part of the Government, even though a few Economists were critical of the decision. Arresting growth of the parallel economy, stopping terror funding and expanding the tax base were extremely thought out and well intended. Please let me have your views in the matter.
