Dear Raima,
Hope you are doing well and doing fine with your health and studies. I heard you want to celebrate the festival but are unaware of the procedure.
Though I don't know much about it, still I can enlighten you a bit. It is the festival that marks the beginning of the monsoon. Women usually wear green colored clothes and fashion accessories. Women and children enjoy singing songs and enjoy swings.
They (married women) also observe fast (unmarried women can also fast), which they break on the sighting of the moon. The moon marks the unity of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Girls apply mehndi on their hands. Common dishes that are made on the festival of teej include Pura, gulgula etc.
