Dear Sushma:

I hope this letter finds you in fine fettle. In your last letter you had asked me how to build your writing, speaking, imaginative, creative, analytical skills, and reasoning skills. Well, dear friend the panacea to all skills development is READING.

Bacon has rightly said, “Reading maketh a full man; writing an exact man, and conference a ready man.” Reading is an essential basic skill building activity. One’s language fluency is determined by the quality of reading. Besides, vocabulary enrichment, ideas collection, familiarization with different types of writing formats, speaking fluency, etc, all depend upon reading.

I was so fortunate to have been introduced to reading by my dad! He actually did nothing; I just got attracted to it through his own reading habit. Dear Sushma I am proud to say that is the best thing that has happened to me. Then I watched the famous movie ‘Matilda’, which further fascinated me to reading.

My advice to you is read as much as you can. There are millions of books available online which you can access. However, if you don’t have flair for e-books, do go to public libraries in your city. They are the ideal places. You can have the books issued free of cost or you can read them in the reading rooms. That’s how I started. They are the most silent places.

I hope you will act upon my advice and enrich your personality with the magic of reading. Give warm regards to uncle and aunt.

Yours affectionately,

Selma

Dear Jacob

It's been long since we met last. These days both of us can't even plan meeting due to final exams.

I've recently read 'The Inscrutable Americans' and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I must read something or the other every day, otherwise I feel as if I'm missing some important thing.

Jacob, as far as possible, you should also try developing reading habit as it's rightly said 'Reading maketh a complete man.' To keep a regular availability of books it's important that we become members of a public library. There you can not only get a wider choice to select but you can access their videos and CDs also . You can read any books which are otherwise not affordable for students like us. Whenever you get time you can visit library and read magazines, chronicles etc depending upon your choice. The calm and serene atmosphere of the library boosts our interest in reading.

I'm sure you'll go to your nearest public library and take membership.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours livingly
Jenny
