Dear ABC,

Thank you so much for inviting me to your birthday party. This is indeed a very nice opportunity for me to meet you and your family but unfortunately I wont be able to attend the party because I would be travelling this week.

I wish I could be present with you on your special day but my office conducts a board meeting once in every three months and I have to be present in the meetings keeping in mind the position I hold.

However, I will meet you for sure as soon as I return from my work. Wishing you a very happy birthday!
