I recently heard a speech on Benefits of joint family in my school. I know that you live in a joint family so I thought of telling this to you. In a joint family you could get a better chance of interaction with your extended family and know them better. It also gives a better base to an individual. It makes children more social and they learn to deal with different kinds of people.
