Dear Manav:
I hope this letter finds you enjoying your vacation. Well, I am also enjoying mine too. However, last night a tragedy happened in our neighbourhood. A fire broke out in a multi storey apartments building. It happened in the middle of the night. We were roused by screams and cries. As we went out we were shocked to see the flames emanating from the windows of the building; trapped people were screaming for help; some of them were climbing down by tying cloths to the railings.
The fire-fighters teams arrived within 15 minutes. They tried to rescue the victims by using their high ladders. After five hours of struggle the fire-fighters were able to control the conflagration. 50 people were injured badly; they were rushed to the nearby hospitals. Approximately 10 people were killed. The sad news had a depressing impact on all the residents in the surrounding areas. The rest is fine. Give regards to uncle and aunt.
Yours sincerely,
Ram

Dear Aviraj
Have you seen the movie 'The Towering Inferno'? To this date, I had seen a building on fire only in movies but today it was a horrendous experience to watch an eight-storey building on fire. The building is in our society right at the beginning near the main entrance. When I was coming back from school I saw a row of fire extinguishing wagons in a line near the main entrance. The flames with dark fumes rose high in the air and many firemen were busy trying to put out the fire. I heard someone talking that the fire broke out on the first floor in one of the apartments due to short circuit. Immediately, the watchman at gate informed fire brigade but within ten minutes the fire grew out of proportion. The people from that building as well as other adjacent buildings came out and stood in panic, some trying to throw sand and others talking and discussing some other similar incidents. It took almost twenty minutes to put out the fire. I still get goosebumps when I recall that scene.
Hope you are preparing for your competitive exams and soon you will get admission in a good college. I am also focussing on my studies these days. Do write back whenever you get time.
Yours affectionately
