As I decided to visit Santiniketan with my overseas friend this February, I was excited to be in direct contact with Rabindranath Tagore's creation. We reached there on the 16th and the same day went to Kankalitala, a famous Satipeeth. The place is by the side of Kopai river, a very calm and quiet place.There is a central pond(kund) which has Sati's pelvis. Our next visit was to Amar kutir, village cooperative store. Under one roof one can get lots of handicrafts of Bolpur. The same evening we also went to the Khoai haat, a village market for local items with an additional attraction of Baul songs.
Next day we visited Viswabharati, starting from Surul kuthibari, to pathabhawan, kalabhawan, pous mela ground, upasana griha, the buildings where Tagore stayed, the replica of Nobel medallion etc.
Lastly in the afternoon we went to Surul Rajbari.
The next morning we were supposed to leave, but before that we went to see Prof. Amartya Sen at his residence.
In all our visit to Santiniketan was a great enriching, fulfilling experience
