My dear mother,

I am extremely thankful to you for sending me a gift of dress. It fits just right and I wore it the other day at a college function. You will be glad to know that everybody said how pretty it looked!I love it, mother. You were so sweet to send it all the way from Madras. How did you know that I wanted a dress like this? Life here is fine but I miss my home much. I almost forgot to tell you in my previous letter that my college is closing for ten days from ____________ (Date) and I shall just be dashing home. When I come, I will show you how I am faring in my studies. My companions in the hostel are very nice and all of us will be leaving for home during the vacations.
