Sir,

This is to draw your attention towards the improper wa­ter supply in east of ____________ (Name) locality since ____________ (Date). In the morning time the water supply is for meager half- an-hour, instead of the regular three hours and during the evening, sometimes there is no water supply and when water is supplied, it is for just fifteen minutes. As a result, there is an acute crisis of drinking water, as the water pressure is very low. At times, the water is so dirty that it cannot be used for drinking purposes. The pump station people say that there is no adequate supply for the station to re-supply water. It has now been nearing a week causing inconvenience to the residents of the lo­cality. You are kindly requested to look into this matter seriously and uproot the underlying cause.

   The summer is at its climax and people are reeling under the relentless heat. In such conditions, the people of Chennai have to face scarcity of water.The taps are dripping only one or two drops. People have to walk long distances in search of water. A long Queue is a common sight to be seen in the public water tank.

                                                Sir, groundwater levels have also fallen drastically and there is an urgent need for adopting long term measures like rain water harvesting ,which is not at all a new concept. Moreover, it should be made compulsory to make arrangements for storing rain water. However, generating awareness among the masses about using water , a valuable resource wisely through pamphlets, advertisement and hoardings is also the need of the hour.

                          Needless to say , that wastage of water should be heavily penalised.
