Dear Abraham:
I hope this letter finds you in great health and vibrant spirits. As in your previous letter you had wished to know what is being done in India to promote road safety, I am going to tell you about the same. India being the second most populated country in the world, no wonder the roads are always crowded with traffic. According to Road Accident Statistics India 1214 road crashes occur every day in India. 20 children under the age of 14 die every day due to road crashes in the country. One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 people die on Indian roads every hour.
The Indian Government has initiated many road safety campaigns to promote read safety. Apart from the road safety awareness advertisements, the campaigns to involve schools and colleges in the road safety programmes have also been launched. The traffic police in every state is organizing road safety seminars and programmes in schools. They are being made aware of the traffic rules by taking them to the traffic parks. Traffic safety rules have been made stricter. People are being repeatedly instructed to be vigilant and careful on road. Catchy traffic safety rules have been installed on the roads that remind people to be good users of the roads. CCTV cameras have been installed almost everywhere in the city to keep an eye on the offenders. Some celebrities such as movie stars and sportspersons have also been involved in the road safety programmes. I think it has had a good impact on the promotion of road safety in our country. The rest is fine. Give regards to uncle and aunt.
Yours affectionately,
Rubin
