Dear Principal

I am writing to you because I would like to request to have two days off work to go and visit my grandfather/grandmother. At the moment my grandfather/grandmother is very sick over the last few days his condition has drastically got worse. As you know I am good at my work and I do my work to the best of my ability.

My grandfather/grandmother is the only member of my family that I have left and the doctors are saying that he might not survive this condition. I would be very grateful and I would much appreciate it if you could let me have the two days off to go and visit him. I hope that you grant me this and I look forward to hearing back from you.
