Dear sister,
Traditionally, an obstacle race is part of our Annual Sports Day at school. This year however, the organizers, particularly the sports coaches, got very creative. They set up all sorts of obstacles. It was extremely challenging and funny at the same time.
To begin with, we barely ran 20 meters when we had to crawl under a table. The table was from the primary wing. Needless to say, it was small with hardly any space underneath. Also, a glass filled with water was placed on top of the table. Each time the glass toppled, I had to start all over again! Since we couldn’t let any of that water spill, it took me considerable time to squeeze myself under the table.
Up next was a numbered path. We could only step on the even numbers. I did not manage to get through that patch in the first attempt. Since I was running quite fast, it was difficult to slow down right away and landed in slush instead. I was better prepared when I attempted it a second time.
The last obstacle was to get across a beam of wood, while balancing a book on the head. The book wouldn’t stay in place and the beam was so narrow as if it was meant for international gymnasts. The fourth attempt was successful and I reached the finish line to win the second prize.
It took me 2 minutes and 15 seconds to finish a 100 meter race. It was my worst timing ever, but was also the most enjoyable race I had ever run!
yours sincerely,
