Dear Sir:
I am writing to your good-self to express my deep anguish and
concern over theever-continuing problem of poorly maintained Governmentschools.
Yesterday I had to visit a Government run school as part of my project. I was shocked to see the bad conditions prevailing there. First and oremost there was nocleanliness anywhere. The school was littered withwrappers, torn paper, leaves, rocks and dirt.
The stink from the washrooms was noxiously annoying. The plasteron the walls required immediate repair. There was no furniture; students weresitting on mats on the cold floor. The attendance was very thin. In most of theclasses there was no teacher. The few teachers that were present were doing
everything but teaching.
Through the medium of your esteemed daily I appeal to the
education ministry to look into the plight of Government run schools. A majorityof children in the rural parts of India study in these schools. How can weprepare skilled manpower from such schools if their standard is so poor?
