Dear Uncle

Hope you are doing well in Mumbai.

I remember that during your last visit here, we had discussed about road accidents and how bystanders react to such accidents. Having witnessed a few accidents of late, let me mention how the public near an accident-site, would react.

When a person is hit by a vehicle, the immediate response from bystanders would be to rush to his aid and try and move him to the hospital. Depending on the severity of the accident, they might use their own vehicle or call up an ambulance. Or the accident victim would be transported in the same vehicle, that hit him/her.

I believe this is the course to follow and people do the natural, right thing.  

Let me stop for now. Looking forward to more discussions, when you visit us next.

Dear uncle

I am writing to you to tell you about the inhuman attitude of bystanders who never pay any attention and lack in compassion and sympathy for those who suffer on the roads.

I remember that your last visit here, we had discussed about road accidents and how bystanders react to such accidents.

Man is a symbol of progress and civilisation. But does civilisation and progress mean that we have to grow more inhuman and insensitive to the pain and suffering of others. I have witnessed many accidents on roads.

I believe this is the sequence to follow and people do the natural, right thing. Not in one instance did I see the bystanders coming to the aid of the victim. If the help ever came, it was after great reluctance. it is a shame I feel to live like that. What do you have to say?
