Dear Anne,

I just received your letter describing your trip to a remote village in Ireland. You have expressed your repentance of not having visited it earlier as you had no inkling of its existence. I must say I am very proud of the Indian Government for having set an example for the rest of the world in promoting tourism.

To begin with the Indian Government has largely popularised India as a tourist destination through its colourful and eye catching campaigning 'Incredible India'.

Every State has been highlighted with catch phrases to lure tourists. For example the exotic state of Kerala has its tagline as 'God's own country', while the West Bengal tagline is, 'The sweetest part of India'.

The Government has also taken great measures to ensure the security and comfort of the tourists. The traditional Indian hospitality has been projected through its invitation, 'Atithi deva bhaba', translated as, 'Guests are our Gods'.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam is another stand taken by the Indian Government which relates to the world being one family.

So next time you make a plan to visit a place go through the Indian promos and you can locate wonderful places to visit.

How is the weather out there in Norway? We are enjoying a severe and prolonged winter. Will be waiting for your next letter.

Your overseas friend

Ravi
