Answer:

The cost of a notebook is twice the cost of a pen. Write a linear equation in two variables to represent this statement.

Cost of a notebook = x Cost of a pen=y

Then according to the given statement

x=2y or x-2y=0

Express the following linear equations in the form ax+by+es 0 and indicate the

values of a, b and c in each case: (1) 2x + 3y = 9.35 (i) x - 10 = 0

(v) 2x = -5y () Zx + 3y = 9.35

2x+3y-9.35 = 0

On comparing this equation with ax+by+c a = 2x, b = 3 and c= -9.35

()xy/5-10 = 0

(vi) 3x+2=0 or studiestöda Xcoft (iv) x = 3y (viii) 5 = 2x

On comparing this equation with at a 1, band c = -10 +c= 0, we get

(ii)-2x + 3y = 6 -2x + 3y - 6 =

On comparing this equation with ax+by+c= 0, we get a-2,b 3 and c

(iv) x 3yx 3y = 0

On comparing this equation with ax + by + c = 0, we get a 1,b-3 and c = 0

(v) 2x = -5y

2x + 5y = 0

On comparing this equation with ax + by + c = 0, we get a 2,b 5 and c = 0

(vi) 3x + 2 0 3x + Oy + 2 = 0 On comparing this equation with ax + by + c = 0, we get a = 3,b= 0 and c = 2
