Write a little peer for consideration

Introduction
When I compare the peer-review reports I wrote some years ago, before I became an editor, to those I write now, I am struck by how the style and content of my reports has changed. The reason for this change is quite simple. Like most scientists, I received no training in how to review a manuscript for a journal, and the only examples of reviews I saw were those of my own papers. Furthermore, when I read reviews of my own work, I was focused on how to get my paper published, rather than broader issues of whether the review was well crafted. This editorial therefore offers a personal perspective on writing peer-review report, based on what I have learnt as an editor. Since there are many differences between journals, I emphasize that this summary is my own perspective, and is very much shaped by the approach and style of the International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS).
