Disaster Management Essay: Every country should have a plan and an outlay to maintain or mitigate the cause of disasters, both man-made and natural. Disaster management is a term that is usually referred to as the management of resources and responsibilities in dealing with the losses of life and property in a disaster like an earthquake, volcanic eruptions, epidemics and pandemics. The whole world is in the disaster management mode due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has gripped the whole world from the past few months. But this essay on disaster management is not confined to that aspect.

Countries that were disaster-ready are coping up with the pandemic relatively well than the countries that had neglected the importance of disaster management.

     ✨Long note on disaster preventions.

Disaster Management can be defined as the organization and management of resources and responsibilities.

Disaster preparedness therefore has two main aims: to help people to avoid  impending disaster threats; and to put plans, resources and mechanisms in  place to ensure that those who are affected receive adequate assistance. It is  assumed that some people and property will be vulnerable to disasters,  despite mitigation measures, and that agencies will have to deal with the  disaster’s impact.

Disaster management refers to the response to an emergency.

A natural disaster is unforeseen, severe and immediate. Pollution, ozone depletion in the stratosphere and global warming come in this category.

The management aspect of disaster may be classified as: (a) early warning system; (b) rescue operations; (c) relief operations; (d) rehabilitation; and (e) long range planning. The most important is the early warning systems. Unless sufficient advance notice is available, evacuation of the population likely to be affected cannot be undertaken.
