Krishnadevaraya, belonged to the Tuluva Dynasty and ruled over the Vijayanagara Empire from 1509 to 1529.


He was a great admirer of art, literature, and an accomplished poet, having himself composed the Telugu poem, Amuktamalyada.


His rule is also known as the golden period for Telugu Literature.


Along with being the patron of art for Telugu literature, eight poets were part of his literary assembly, also known as the eight pillars of Astadiggajas.
