It should be a matter of immense concern to us how our river and marine life is being affected both by man's greed as well as negligence. Our fishermen sometimes catch fishes before their maturity and our factories do not control the toxic industrial waste from flowing into the rivers.
It is the duty of our riparian and coastal states to monitor and ensure that the ecology of these water bodies is better controlled as their wanton destruction is costing us dear, as is apparent from the virtual extinction or reduction in population of some species of fishes, like the Hilsa, Tenualosa Ilisha. The fish-eating people of this country will vouch how the flavour of the hilsa is also getting adversely affected over time.
The ideal thing to do is for the Government to intervene in ensuring that stricter checks and controls are put in place in ensuring that the rivers and seas are not polluted any further and the fishes are allowed to grow and become mature for cultivation. By taking proper measures, with the involvement of all stakeholders, we can ensure that fishing becomes a thriving industry for our country.

hi mate,

according to news the National Academy of Sciences estimated that ocean-based sources, such as cargo ships and cruise liners had dumped 14 billion pounds of garbage into the ocean. Over 1 million seabirds and 100,000 sea mammals are killed by pollution every year.

Water pollution harms fish populations in various ways. ... Algal blooms can be harmful to fish as they feed upon algae, toxins accumulate within the fish, and when a predator fish consumes that fish, they too are consuming higher toxin levels. Pesticides and heavy metals that enter waterways can also harm or kill fish.

If untreated water keeps getting pumped into the lakes, it would soon contaminate groundwater resources, as is evident from the higher nitrate levels in the borewells in the vicinity of polluted lakes in Bengaluru. ... The fish would have got very weak because of the ammonia,” says Jamwal, who studies water pollution.

I hope it helps you.
