Saplings were implanted by the students as well as the principal and teachers at Teja Singh Sutantar Model Senior Secondary School. The school authorities motivated the students to plant more and more trees in order to make the surroundings green. The teachers told that even 'Gurbani' preaches that nature should be cared for. "It is important to look after our environment in order to make earth a better place to live.

Green Land Convent School, Civil City

To mark the day, the school organised a 'nature walk' for the students who were exhorted to plant more trees in their surroundings. To add more colour to the day a 'best out of waste' activity was also held; students used waste material to showcase their creativity. Jyoti Pujara, manager of the school also joined the students in this 'go green' effort.

A tree plantation drive was organised at Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, on the mark of World Environment Day. All the students of EcoClub, NCC Wing and NSS Unit planted saplings on the occasion. Manjit Kaur Ghuman, principal of the college, interacted with the students and spoke about threats to the environment. Students raised slogans and displayed posters regarding different environmental issues.

An awareness rally was held by the staff and students of Ludhiana Institute of Nursing, Katani Kalan. The rally was taken out with full dynamism under the leadership of managing director, Rahul Gupta, with the aim to bring issues like safe waste disposal under the public domain. More than 50 students took to the streets to highlight sensitive issues of environment. The rally aimed at encouraging the public to actively participate in the celebration and also keep their environment clean and healthy to lead a better life.  

Brats N Cuties pre-school  

World Environment Day was celebrated at Brats N Cuties pre-school on Friday. Potted plants were added to the school garden and students were encouraged to participate in drawing and poster making competitions with environment-related topics with their parents. Kids also enjoyed pot-making and other activities organised to help students understand the importance of the three P's - Protect, Preserve and Promote 'mother earth'.  

Architects celebrate environment day  

Leading architects from the Indian Institute of Architects, Ludhiana Centre (IIALC), celebrated World Environment day. Experts delivered a meaningful lecture on the value of the environment. The programme was followed by a tree plantation ceremony. A presentation was given by Sanjay Goel, chairman of IIALC about various environmental issues. In his presentation, Goel highlighted the difference of life in Ludhiana with respect to other cities of India. He also suggested that government take steps to improve the quality of environment.
