Every individual has to make an effort not to litter his or her surroundings. There is another saying which fits here aptly, ‘old habits die hard’.
If an individual has the habit of making his or her surrounding dirty, he or she may not be able to change overnight. Therefore, parents, guardians and teachers must instill good habits, such as keeping one’s environment clean, from childhood. One must encourage the children to dispose off garbage in the respective bins i.e., blue bin for non-biodegradable and green bin for bio degradable waste and practise the same so that the child watches and learns.
As responsible citizens and community members, one must initiate awareness programmes in localities and societies. One needs to come up with or follow efficient garbage disposal methods; one can dig a compost pit to dispose organic matter. Non-biodegradable waste must be separated from biodegradable so that the former can be recycled and reused. That’s not all; every individual has to comply with the government policies regarding cleanliness.
Unless one remains extra careful towards cleanliness, ‘Swacha Bharat’ will always remain a dream.
