A Daring Bank robbery was committed in the Sulaab Behar Bazaar Branch of United Bank of punjab on twenty third July at 3 p.m. just before the public transaction was being closed. According to the managing officer of the bank eleven armed men raided the bank by snatching the rifle from the guard on duty at the gate. They broke open the lockers and took away cash worth about forty lakhs. The customers and the staff at the counter was silenced at a gun point. The miscreants threw bomb while escaping in a white maruti van waiting at the other side of the road opposite the bank. The police were immediately informed of the incident but no one was arrested till the report reached the press.
