Wedding Party Meets Fatal Accident
Panagar, Jan. 30 : Two vehicles — a Matador van carrying a wedding party and a minibus—rammed into each other early this morning killing six people. All the dead including a six-years old and two teenagers were in this matador van which was rammed by a speeding minibus on G.T Road near Panagar More some 170 km from Kolkata. Around three this morning the deafening crash woke up residents of the area, who rushed to the spot and pulled out the injured from the overturned matador van. Among the injured admitted to Panagar Hospital, 11 are said to be in a critical state. Many of them have multiple head injuries and broken ribs. It is reported that both the vehicles were travelling at a great speed in the dense fog in the early hours of the morning. While negotiating a turn on the road, the minibus crashed into the belly of the van which turned on its side. The minibus driver fled and is reported to be absconding. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital after first-aid. The police have seized both the vehicles.
