The arrested have been identified as 51-year-old clerk Ashok Baburao Wani and 57-year-old senior clerk Sarjerao Ramrao Gavhane. The demand for Rs 4,000 as a bribe was made to the 29-year old, went to the civic body for regularising his retired father’s pension.
Superintendent of police (ACB) Arvind Chawria informed that after the 29-year old reached out to the accused for regularising his father’s pension, Wani allegedly demanded a bribe for getting the work done.
The youth then lodged a complaint with ACB. After verifying, ACB laid a plan to catch the two accused red-handed. Wani had asked the youth to meet at the parking of Vinayakrao Patil College with the bribe money. ACB informed that Wani asked the youth to give the bribe money to Gavhane for getting the work done. After he accepted the bribe, ACB officers arrested the duo and an an offence under relevant sections of prevention of corruption act was registered with the Vaijapur police of Aurangabad rural.
